One of the ways Roberto and Jill serve down is in Ecuador is by working with the church youth group and other youth within the community. WE LOVE IT and feel privileged that God is using us here!! We disciple some kids during the week, we have them over to our house on Friday nights for games, food, movies, etc, and youth group is every Saturday night. Our dream and vision is to open a youth center in the next couple years (as part of the foundation), as to be able to offer the youth more opportunities (community dinner nights, worship nights, academic help, etc), with the purpose of sharing Christ's love with them and offering opportunities to grow spiritually.
This past weekend God united 3 different church youth groups, 2 from Sucua, and 1 from Shell (a town about 3 hours away), with a total of just more than 50 kids! Friday night we worshiped together (each youth group took turns leading, and sharing songs from their church), we ate together, played games, and Roberto shared a short message on "Being in Relationship with Christ and Others".
Saturday, we went out to a small Shuar village (about 20 minutes from Sucua) and hiked down to some waterfalls. The kids had fun talking along the way and playing in the water. We also cooked lunch alongside the river. It was a great time to build relationships within our own group and within the larger community.
Below is a video with some highlights from the trip! Roberto made the video as a movie trailer to invite kids to be a part of our weekly group, but we were able to edit it a bit for our U.S./English speaking crowd
